Leisure Village, Fox Lake, Illinois is located approximately 60 miles Northwest of Chicago near the Wisconsin State Line. For fifty years it has provided a secure gated, quiet, lifestyle choice for active adults. Wildlife abounds on and near a private fishing pond and lake. Vegetable garden plots and a large, heated greenhouse help our gardeners enjoy their chosen activity.
This is an active, 55 and over adult community. With our swimming pool, golf course, lake, pickleball courts, woodshop, exercise room and picnic grounds, Leisure Village is more like a active adult resort, and is not an elderly/assisted living care facility designed for residents who can no longer live independently. The biggest difference between our neighborhood and other communities with amenities is that we are age restricted. We offer ranch condominiums with exterior maintenance for an easy and active lifestyle.
A resident owned community nestled on 100 acres in a park-like setting, the community is comprised of 360 ranch style attached homes. Sizes of the 13 style choices range from 755 to 1705 square feet. Most models include a one car attached garage. A resident elected Board of Managers acts on behalf of the residents.
A large recreation center is a hub of activity. A 250 seat capacity auditorium, exercise room, library, pool tables, wood working room, art room, sewing/quilting room, and a card/game room draw residents nearly every day. A 14 passenger bus takes residents to certain social events, as well as weekly shopping trips. The calendar is filled with an abundance of activities for everyone. The heated, oversized pool is greatly appreciated during the warmer months. Other outdoor activities include pickleball, bocce ball and shuffleboard. Picnic tables are positioned along the lake front for family and friends' enjoyment. Our fire pit can help keep the fun going into the evening.
Our community promotes an active social life and offers residents the opportunity to live among other adults who are in the same phase of life. Many, but not all, of our residents are retired and now have the time to pursue a variety of interests. Our commissions, social activities, board of managers and specific interest groups such as artists, quilters, writers, line dancers, gardeners and crafters are all run by resident volunteers. Sometimes professional instructors come into our community to share their special skills for a reasonable fee.
We welcome new residents and look forward to their presence and their contributions to our community to keep it thriving. Come join our fun and friendly, active adult community!
