Photos courtesy of Nanette France. “Here are some pictures I took of a painted turtle digging to lay her eggs June 6th. Then she went back to the lake. The eggs take 72-80 days to hatch. So somewhere between 8/17/23 & 8/25/23 the eggs s/h hatched and turtle babies dig their way out but our ground was too hard for them to dig through. I dug them Sept 11. Held them overnight before releasing to make sure they were ok. Released them into Leisure Lake on Sept 12. By the way outside air temperature determines the sex and entire clutch will be same sex. These are all females.”
